Connected software for measurement devices used in the field.

Cirrus Research develops professional sound level meters used in industrial, environmental, and compliance settings where accurate measurement data needs to be captured and interpreted reliably.

These devices are used in the field to record noise measurements, after which the data must be processed, analysed, and turned into reporting that supports compliance and operational decision-making.

The requirement was to connect physical measurement devices with modern software so users could move cleanly from capture to analysis and reporting across mobile and web systems.

The challenge

Capturing measurement data from physical devices used in real-world field environments.
Transferring and structuring that data for analysis without losing accuracy or context.
Providing clear reporting suitable for compliance and practical decision-making.
Supporting mobile workflows for users working away from desks and fixed systems.
Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement data throughout the process.
Connecting hardware, mobile software, and web systems into one coherent experience.

What we built

A connected mobile and web platform linking physical devices to reporting and analysis.

Mobile applications

Mobile apps were developed for interacting with sound measurement devices and bringing captured data into a usable software workflow.

Web platform

A web platform supports data storage, analysis, and reporting once measurements move beyond the device.

Data synchronisation

Measurement data is synchronised between device, mobile, and web systems so users can move between stages without manual re-entry.

Structured data handling

Results are handled in a structured format that supports accuracy, traceability, and consistent interpretation.

Reporting tools

The system provides reporting outputs suitable for compliance documentation and analysis.

Field-focused interfaces

Interfaces are designed for real-world usage, with clarity of output and practical usability for users in the field.

Unified hardware-software workflow

Hardware devices and software systems are connected into one workflow rather than operating as isolated tools.

System flow

  1. Measurement taken
  2. Data captured on device
  3. Synced to mobile/web
  4. Processed and structured
  5. Report generated
  6. Used for compliance/analysis
